We have been told by our clients that our BW FREESTANDING Greenhouses (also know as Hoop Greenhouses or Cold Frame Greenhouses) are the strongest on the market.

The key to superior arch strength in our BW FREESTANDING Greenhouses starts not only with using superior steel (greater than 50,000 lbs yield). We use domestic Gatorshield® 50/55 steel that has a yield strength of 50ksi and is highly corrosion resistant (2000 hour salt spray). Unlike hot-dipped galvanized steel which have yield strengths of only 32-36ksi, Gatorshield® gives our clients the peace of mind that the best and strongest steel has been used in their Greenhouse. {Click here to learn more about Gatorshield steel}.

Another aspect of the strength of our Gothic Arches is the profile of the steel tubing used. BW FREESTANDING Greenhouse arches are made from rectangle profiles only. These rectangle arches are stronger, contain more steel on a dimension by dimension basis and much more torsionally rigid than either round or oval arches, but also relies on the Gothic Arch shape and the extensive use of purlins that ensure the arches stay "in plane" while under wind or snow loads. For this reason, our greenhouses come with more runs of purlins, cross ties and struts than most of our competitors.

We have found that using square or rectangle steel for our arches is stronger than using round or oval.

Our Freestanding Greenhouses come in the following standard widths:
12 ft, 20 ft, 25 ft, 30 ft and 36 ft (see below).

Depending on wind and snow loads we can adjust our on-centre spacing to accommodate a variety of conditions and whether or not the Greenhouse will be heated.
